Channel 4 8pm. Escape To The Chateau: Make Do And Mend

dick & angel

Dick and Angel Strawbridge help families across the UK tackle their design and DIY dilemmas. With millions of families stuck indoors, the significance of being able to truly feel at home in the places where we live has never felt stronger. The series is filmed by Dick and Angel themselves, as they set out to help the great British public make the most of their homes in the best way they know how - by rolling up their sleeves and tackling the DIY jobs that have been gathering dust. Using the skills they've honed over five years of bringing their beautiful chateau back to life, Dick and Angel advise and inspire families who have found themselves with time on their hands and the desire to give an overdue project a go. From their home in France, via the power of the internet, Dick and Angel attend to problem projects in sheds, attics, gardens, living rooms and allotments across the UK, helping with anything from crafting conundrums to entire room makeovers. The whole family, including children Dorothy and Arthur, tackle their own 'dream' projects and inspire the nation to do the same with how-to advice and imaginative tips and tricks. In this first episode, Angel helps Miriam get over the blues by transforming her 1970s bathroom into a relaxing sanctuary - without changing either the suite or the tiles! Dick digs out his old handmade smoker to help teach Phil the ancient art of cheese smoking. And together, Dick and Angel advise Tom and Sim how to bring their unique front door into the 21st century. Amid it all, life goes on at the chateau, and Dick takes to the sky to reveal the location of his brand-new potting shed. And there's an important arrival - Petale - a beautiful Kerry blue puppy who becomes the newest member of the Strawbridge family, much to the delight of Dorothy and Arthur.
