    Stripped across 5 consecutive nights from the 22nd August the Chelsea set swapped SW3 for a summer of love and lashings of drama on the sunny shores of Mallorca    The mini series got off to a strong start and is currently tracking significantly upwards on the last ‘holiday’ spin off which took place pre pandemic in 2019    After three episodes AD1634 viewing is up +15% for volume and +70% for share, whilst WO1634 viewing is up +35% for volume and +130% for share    Always a massive hit on ALL4, the series was the top performing title on the platform last week

    Crime thriller, Suspect, ended after eight gripping episodes, becoming Channel 4’s biggest drama of 2022, and the biggest commissioned drama since It’s A Sin in early 2021. The series peaked with 3.3million viewers for its launch episode, which made this the biggest drama launch on Channel 4 since Deadwater Fell in early 2020.

    Made In Chelsea returned for a 23rd series on the 4th April, and such is the popularity of this evergreen reality series, it showed year on year and series and series growth when compared to the two previous launch episodes.

    Our favourite celebrity baking show returned on March the 22nd with a showstopper slot winning performance.   The launch episode won the 2000-2115 slot across all TV for all major trading audiences, with AD1634’s attracting a particularly eye-catching 36% share of AD1634’s; a bigger share of this audience than two of the three launch episodes from the past three years.

    Away for more than two years, Celebrity Hunted made a pleasing return on Sunday the 30th January, as over 2.1 million viewers watched the first episode. This series is always one of our best profiling shows for younger audiences and comes as no surprise that Adults 16-34’s viewing was up 55%, Women 16-34 viewing up 70% and Men 16-34 viewing up 32% on respective slot average volumes.

    Channel 4 added the exciting ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to its sport roster, with the first race in a multi-year deal coming from the stunning Riyadh Street Circuit in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday the 29th January. The race was a big hit with male audiences, as ABC1ME share was up +10% on the slot average, whilst ME1634 share was up +30% on the slot average

    The latest series of Junior Bake Off continues to be a hit with AD1634 viewers averaging an audience share of 19% across its first seven episodes. The launch episode of this series attracted a 26% share of the AD1634 audience; the biggest share of this audience for any episode of Junior Bake Off (C4 and BBC).

    Channel 4’s share of young viewers has seen a year-on year increase of 5% whereas the rest of the commercial market has seen a down turn of -4%. Currently this position is being reinforced by Bake Off, Gogglebox and Married at First Sight.

    The Great British Bake Off’s third episode attracted an overnight audience of 6.9 million viewers making it the fifth biggest volume for Bake Off on Channel 4 and the biggest ever non-launch or non-final episode! So far it’s the highest rating programme for young viewers on any channel this year!

    The Great British Bake Off's launch episode impressively saw over half (56%) of AD1634s watching TV at the time tune in. Episode 2 on Tuesday drew the same share. Consolidation figures for episode 1 makes it the BIGGEST Channel 4 broadcast since 1985! + the highest rating programme for young viewers on any channel so far this year! All 4 viewing has also seen an impressive increase.

    Channel 4’s AD1634 viewership is up 10% since lockdown began, whilst the rest of the commercial market is down -4%. This can be attributed to an increase in AD1634 viewership from daytime programmes such as Steph’s Packed Lunch which took a 8% share on Wednesday, Channel 4 News which is up 64% year-on-year and, of course, our platinum specials, The Great British Bake Off and Gogglebox.

    Last Friday saw the return of Gogglebox at 9pm which had S16 launch with 3.76 million viewers, the biggest audience to a launch episode since Series 7 in Feb 2016. The launch took a 34% share of 1634s which is up 33% on the slot average!

    Monday’s 7pm News took a 15.7% 1634 share which was the 2nd highest ever for the 7pm show and the biggest since 2005! Additionally, Lodgers for Codgers, Cats Does Countdown, Food Unwrapped Does Snacks and Call the Cops all won their slot for 1634s last week. Since Lockdown began Channel 4's late peak (2000-2300) share of 1634's is up 30% year-on-year which is in stark contrast to Commercial TV (exc. C4) which is down -8%.

    We have seen increases in all areas across our schedule since the lockdown period began. Most notably with 1634s, Channel 4 has delivered the biggest year on year uplift to audiences here, with an increase of 20% compared to an average decline of 3% among all over commercial channels (excluding C4)
